With this in mind, we\u2019ve provided a summary of the European Standard EN 13501-1: Reaction to Fire regulations and a full list of EN 13501-1 certified Hesse products:<\/p>\n
EN 13501-1 Reaction to Fire explained<\/strong><\/p>\n The European standard EN 13501-1: Reaction to Fire provides a number of performance criteria to measure the fire characteristics of materials. The EN\u2010standard is based on a test for the actual materials response to fire, smoke development and droplets while burning \u2013 however, it should be noted that this test does NOT<\/strong> cover fire resistance \u2013 this comes under BS EN 13501-2.<\/p>\n All materials tested under EN 13501-1: Reaction to Fire regulations also have a letter classification, from A1 to F, to further explain their reaction to fire:<\/p>\n Class A1<\/strong> \u2013 non-combustible materials As well as this, all materials classified A2, B, C, D obtain an additional classification regarding the emission of smoke and the production of flaming droplets and\/or particles:<\/p>\n Smoke development:<\/p>\n Class S1<\/strong> -very limited smoke development Burning droplets:<\/p>\n Class d0<\/strong> \u2013 no burning droplets or particles Which Hesse products are EN 13501-1 certified?<\/strong><\/p>\n It\u2019s important to note that fire-retardant coatings do NOT<\/strong> make a material fire-retardant; rather they provide a protective layer which helps professionals maintain the existing fire-retardant properties of the surface material.<\/p>\n All of the Hesse FANTASTIC<\/strong> range products meet EN 13501-1 testing standards (highest rating B-s1, d0), which compromises of three products:<\/p>\n
\nClass A2<\/strong> \u2013 non-combustible materials
\nClass B<\/strong> \u2013 combustible materials \u2013 very limited contribution to fire
\nClass C<\/strong> \u2013 combustible materials \u2013 limited contribution to fire
\nClass D<\/strong> \u2013 combustible materials \u2013 medium contribution to fire
\nClass E<\/strong> \u2013 combustible materials \u2013 highly contribution to fire
\nClass F<\/strong> \u2013 combustible materials \u2013 easily flammable<\/p>\n
\nClass S2<\/strong> \u2013limited smoke development
\nClass S3<\/strong> \u2013 no demands on smoke development<\/p>\n
\nClass d1<\/strong>\u2013 limited burning droplets
