But what\u2019s so special about GAMP\u00ae5, and why should you use it?<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What is GAMP\u00ae5?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8216;GAMP\u00ae5&#8217; is a short-form for &#8216;<em>The Good Automated Manufacturing Practice Guide for Validation of Automated Systems in Pharmaceutical Manufacture Version 5<\/em>&#8216;. A set of guidelines produced by the <a href=\"https:\/\/ispe.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The guide describes a set of principles and procedures to help ensure that pharmaceutical products have the required quality. Its current version is GAMP\u00ae5. The second edition was released in July 2022. Although the guidelines come from a pharmaceutical perspective, it is clear that its&#8217; good practices can be equally well applied to other analogous industries. Especially Food and Beverage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>GAMP\u00ae5 promotes a system lifecycle and risk-based approach. Focusing on those computerised systems with most impact on patient (or consumer) safety, product quality, and data integrity. Instead of having the kind of &#8216;them-and-us&#8217; contractual relationship that is sometimes found in other industries.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Computer system validation (CSV)\u00a0follows the GAMP\u00ae5 guidelines. This requires users and suppliers to work together so that responsibilities regarding the validation process are well understood. GAMP\u00ae5 provides a documented assurance for end users that a system is not only \u201cworking to spec\u201d but is appropriate for the intended use and understood by all stakeholders.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In summary, GAMP\u00ae5 is not just a reworking of already understood quality management tools. It instead combines proven good practices with a spirit of collaboration, shared responsibility and focused risk management.
