Advanced Engineering Exhibition 2024

On Wednesday and Thursday last week, our Sale & Marketing Manager James attended the Advanced Engineering Exhibition at the Birmingham NEC. The Advanced Engineering Exhibition 2024 is an event showcasing new technology and innovation across engineering sectors. It offers networking, opportunities, insightful talks and demonstrations, bringing together industry leaders, innovators and professionals. Here are his main takeaways over the two days.

The Advanced Engineering Exhibition was a great experience filled with new insights, industry connections, and demonstrations into the direction of automation in engineering. It was great to branch out and see new engineering applications, as well as catching up with current customers, including Sartorius, whose innovations in life sciences continue to shape the industry. It was insightful to discuss their continued work in areas like chromatography and witness how automation drives efficiency and quality in these important processes.

The Impact of Automation

The impact of automation across various sectors was on full display. In autoclaving, automated systems now streamline what were once manual, time-intensive processes, which is a game-changer for industries with high standards for sterility and precision, like Rodwell-Powell Precision. Digital manufacturing also showcased impressive innovations, particularly the use of digital twinning which helps to optimize efficiency and support sustainability efforts. In chromatography, automation has brought improved monitoring capabilities and process accuracy, particularly valuable for industries requiring high-purity standards. This, however, was not just evident in chromatography, but could be seen spread across various applications, such as air filtration, distillation and extraction. It was a reminder that automation is much more than a trend—it’s a powerful tool reshaping production quality and speed.

One of the main highlights was a standout talk by Guy Martin from Nomadic Speed Ltd which brought a refreshing perspective on the challenges of high-speed engineering. His insights on risk management, precision, and pushing the boundaries of engineering kept the audience engaged and thinking differently about innovation.

Beyond the technology, the exhibition offered a great chance to take advantage of networking opportunities. Meeting potential customers provided invaluable face-to-face insights into current needs and challenges in various fields, which helps us better serve and grow with our customers. The Advanced Engineering Exhibition isn’t just an event to learn about the latest technology innovations—it’s a great chance to form and strengthening relationships within the industry.

Summary

Overall, attending the exhibition was an investment in both knowledge and professional connections, one that will undoubtedly pay off long after the event. For anyone in engineering, manufacturing, or process industries, events like these are invaluable for staying ahead in a rapidly evolving field.
